Blood goes to earth | performance
Blood goes to earth – a Ukrainian proverb, that means that everything passes, just like blood of soldiers that with time is absorbed by the earth. But just as this blood, things that has been forgotten with the flow of time, they still stay deep inside forever. And they take new mysterious forms, as blood grows from earth in a form of flowers.
In november 2021, being 8 month pregnant, I went to a war zone on East of Ukraine, where the war with Russia started 8 years ago, in 2014, to dig a specific earth, that people fought and died for.
That was a foreboding of a full scale war, that Russia started against Ukraine 3 months later.
Leaving Ukraine with my 2 kids after February 24, I took with me part of this soil from a war zone.
In France, where I currently live and work, I collected French soil, that remembers the World War 1.
At performance I mix the earth of Ukraine and earth of France to release the knowledge this soil holds and let the memory grow in flowers.
The performance took place first time July 9 2022, during exhibition “Fairy Tales” at the gallery of Manior Enchante.
