Multidisciplinary contemporary artist Sasha Kovaleva, born in Crimea in 1984. Lives and works in Kyiv, (Ukraine) and Krakow, (Poland).
Her main mediums are figurative painting, performing arts, installation, video and mixed media.
As a published writer, Kovaleva searches for a new forms of literature, merging it with art in poststructuralist way.
In her art practices, she researches different directions of society and human being — from the corporeality and loneliness sharpened in it, to complex social structures and the way it were build through times.
The art practices become her way to communicate and interact with the outside world in the most sincere way.
Visual language gives her an opportunity to express what she wants to say, what she is afraid to say, but what she is nevertheless saying, regardless of whether her message reaches the viewer in its original or modified form.
The goal of all her practices is co-creation of author and viewer: this is why artist leaves the vast field for interpretations for the viewer, since this is where she sees the moment of creation, the moment of art — between the piece and person`s glance.
